Illness and Injuries Policy

Purpose of this policy:

To maintain the health and safety of all campers and camp staff.

Attending Camp

  • If your child is unwell at all, you should NOT be sending them to camp. We appreciate you keeping your child at home if they are unwell for the safety and wellbeing of all campers and leaders.

  • If your child is COVID positive and displaying ANY symptoms, they will not be able to attend camp

  • If your child is displaying COVID symptoms on the morning of departure, they will not be able to attend camp

Child becomes unwell or sustains an injury on camp

Leaders will effectively manage and respond to any accidents, illnesses, trauma and emergencies which may occur on camp to ensure the overall safety and wellbeing of all campers and leaders.

If campers are sent home, they may be able to return to camp at director’s discretion, depending on illness, current symptoms, and other varying factors on a case by case basis.

Potential specific illness cases:

  • Vomiting and Diarrhea
If a child has a loose bowel movement or begins to vomit, this will be documented and the child will be monitored, and/or isolated in a sick bay. If symptoms persist, carers will be contacted and you will need to pick them up as soon as possible. Children may be able to return to camp (at directors discretion) if symptoms do not persist for at least 24 hours from last occurrence or 48 hours if an outbreak is occurring.

  • Covid
If your child displays COVID symptoms they may be required to self administer a RAT. This will take place under leader supervision and where practically possible, camp leadership will attempt to contact a nominated emergency contact prior to proceeding with RAT testing.
If a camper tests positive to COVID whilst on camp, they will be required to isolate and you will need to pick them up as soon as possible. The leadership will contact you if this is the case. The camper will isolate whilst waiting for you to pick them up.

Should my child require urgent hospital or medical treatment, I hereby give my consent for the leaders to obtain the necessary treatment with all possible speed and for it to be at my own expense. Thanks for taking the time to process all this information. I trust that your children enjoy their experiences at camp and build many long-lasting memories. Please reach out to the directors or camp parents at fccjuniorcamp@gmail.com if you have any specific questions about your child’s camp.
